AppleCast Limited (Eco Centre) Cobbs Brow Lane

We have an extensive outdoor educational facility and farm offering angling, animal care and horticulture as therapeutic activities for disengaged disaffected young people or for people of all disabilities, age or gender. Angling is our particular method for promoting wellbeing because it provides a distraction to stresses that someone is feeling. It requires long periods of concentration which promote relaxation but there is also an anticipation from the unpredictability of catching followed by excitement and reward of the catch.
Our 26-acre farm is located in the countryside and has been developed with education, environment and inclusion activities at the heart of everything that we do.
Facilities and activities on our site include:
Four beautifully landscaped outdoor fishing lakes ** Unique indoor angling **Fish breeding and an aquaponics facility (food growing using a fish-pond system) **Animal farm ** Birds of prey ** Horticulture ** Bench joinery ** Construction ** Food growing
We also have a café and garden centre plus a cycle track and sensory gardens which offer a potential for physical activities. New for 2019 is a new cycle repair shop.
